Under the theme Museums, AI and the Future, this year’s MuseumWeek will explore how technological transformations are affecting museums, using artificial intelligence as a starting point.
Five UNESCO webinars will each offer a unique perspective at the intersection of museums and technology, reflecting on the future role of museums in increasingly diverse and complex socio-cultural and geopolitical contexts. Discussions will be guided by the UNESCO 2015 Recommendation concerning the protection and promotion of museums and collections, their diversity and their role in society, which encourages Member States to ensure that museums have the necessary resources to take advantage of new technologies in service of their core missions.

Launched in 2014 and organised by the non-profit association Culture For Causes Network, MuseumWeek is a global initiative that brings together museums, galleries, libraries, archives and heritage sites to celebrate museums, centred around seven themes and dedicated hashtags. Under the patronage of the French National Commission for UNESCO, this year’s edition promotes intercultural dialogue and exchange, including workshops, exhibitions and discussions supported by a global social media campaign.
