The Indian cricket team will kickstart its Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in a pulsating Group 1 fixture at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Sunday.

Having ended their long ICC trophy drought with the ODI World Cup title last year, India will now aim to carry that momentum into the T20 World Cup and finally overcome a chain of near misses at the 20-over showpiece in recent years.
The Women in Blue have qualified for the Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals five times and have made it all the way to the final once but are yet to win the title.

The Indian women’s cricket team, however, will back itself against arch-rivals Pakistan – an opponent they have historically held the upper hand against.
World No. 8 Pakistan have also struggled for form in the T20 format this year with just one win in their last five matches.
India boast a dominant record against Pakistan and lead the IND-W vs PAK-W T20 head-to-head with 13 wins from 16 games. Pakistan have won thrice.
Two out of those three wins for Pakistan came in T20 World Cups. Meanwhile, India have beaten Pakistan six times in the 20-over showpiece.
