World No. 1 Minakshi Hooda will headline an 18-member Indian squad at the World Boxing Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in Guiyang, the People’s Republic of China, from June 15 to 21.
A total of 333 boxers from 44 different federations will compete in the tournament which offers ranking points, which will help towards qualification for the season-ending World Boxing Cup Finals.
The meet in Guiyang is the second World Boxing Cup of the year following the Stage 1 held in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil.
Indian boxers skipped the Brazil meet but were the most successful team in the 2025 World Boxing season, accumulating 40 medals, including 13 golds, across three tournaments, including the Finals.
In Guiyang, competitions will be held across 10 weight categories for both men and women.
India will be represented in all 20 weight categories. Jyoti (women’s 48kg) and Aakash (men’s 75kg) were late additions to what originally was an 18-member boxing team.

Minakshi Hooda, the reigning world and Asian champion in the women’s 48kg is the standout name in the Indian contingent. However, the 24-year-old will be competing in the 51kg – a tier above the 48kg division, in which she currently leads the world rankings.
Interestingly, Minakshi had won gold in the 48kg at the World Boxing Finals last year as well while Nikhat Zareen had taken the title in the 51kg.
The women’s 48kg is not a part of the LA 2028 Olympics boxing programme but the 51kg will be.
Experienced boxer Deepak will lead the men’s team in the 70kg category, while Abhinash Jamwal and Jugnoo – both medal winners from the 2025 World Boxing Finals – return to international action.
The squad, selected by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), features a blend of established performers and emerging talent across both divisions.
None of the Indian boxers selected for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Asian Games will be in action at the China meet, which concludes on June 22.
The team has been training at the national camp ahead of the tournament, with preparations focused on technical refinement, fitness and tactical execution.

The World Boxing Cup 2026 in Guiyang, China will be available to watch on live streaming on the World Boxing YouTube channel. The matches will not be available on live telecast on any TV channel in India.
