SA-W vs IND-W, Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: South Africa face India in crucial group match – know head-to-head, where to watch live

South Africa will face India in its third Group 1 fixture of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on Sunday in what could prove to be a pivotal fixture for the Proteas.

The South Africa vs India Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 match will be available to watch on live streaming and live broadcast. The SA-W vs IND-W match will start at 3:30 PM SAST and 7:00 PM IST.

Sunday’s fixture will also mark the first occasion that South Africa and India are meeting in the Women’s T20 World Cup stage, which is surprising considering both teams have featured in all previous nine editions of the tournament.

After losing their opening game to Australia, the South Africa women’s cricket team edged out Pakistan in a tricky fixture to get their first points on the board.

However, with only two teams from the six-team Group 1 set to progress to the semi-finals, the Proteas will be eager to get one over India – a potential threat to their top four ambitions – to give themselves an edge in what promises to be a tight race.

The Indian women’s cricket team, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, are undefeated at this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup, having registered convincing wins over both Pakistan and debutants Netherlands.

With world No. 1 and six-time champions Australia still to play in the group, the Indian team can also ill afford to drop any points against the Proteas.

Interestingly, South Africa and India met in the ODI World Cup final late last year with the latter coming out on top despite a century by Proteas Women captain Laura Wolvaardt.

Sunday’s fixture will pit Wolvaardt against India’s Smriti Mandhana, giving fans the opportunity to see arguably the two best batters in women’s cricket today go toe-to-toe on one of the biggest stages.

Mandhana comes into the fixture having slammed back-to-back fifties in India’s first two matches of the tournament. Wolvaardt scored a 44 albeit in a losing cause against Australia and then fell cheaply against Pakistan earlier this week.

The Proteas will need to be wary of Indian spinners, who have played a pivotal part in the Women in Blue’s undefeated start to the season. Deepti Sharma impressed with a fifer against Pakistan while Shree Charani packed up four Dutch batters in the second game.

South Africa, however, may have an answer to the issue in Annerie Dercksen, who scored a stunning fifty while tackling the Pakistani spinners remarkably well under difficult conditions in the Proteas’ last game.

India also hold a narrow 11-10 lead in the SA-W vs IND-W T20I head-to-head record while three of the 24 fixtures between the two teams have failed to yield a definitive result.

However, it may count for little as the Proteas have won nine of the last 15. India have won four while two have been abandoned.

In fact, five of the matches were played in April this year, with South Africa dominating a T20 series at home by a 4-1 margin. Wolvaardt led from the front, scoring 330 runs in the five-match series, including three fifties and a century.
