The Social Vaccine Team of Madam Chantal BIYA, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, together with a UNESCO delegation led by the National Coordinator, Madam JAJI Rose MBAH ATENG, this 11 August 2026 , visited the Nkolfolou Multimedia Centre in the Centre Region in Yaoundé, Cameroon to assess its progress, inspect the available equipment, and identify what remains to be done to make the centre fully operational.
During discussions, the UNESCO delegation recommended upgrading some of the older computers for advanced learning while continuing to use the existing equipment for basic computer training. The team also encouraged stronger communication through digital platforms and social media to increase international awareness of the programme. Additional recommendations included expanding digital skills training for young people and adults, improving accessibility for persons with disabilities, and strengthening the long term sustainability of the centres.
At the end of the visit, both teams reaffirmed their commitment to working together to promote quality education, digital inclusion, innovation, and community development. They expressed confidence that the Multimedia Centres will continue to play an important role in expanding access to technology and lifelong learning across Cameroon.
