A 20-member Indian men’s hockey team has been named for the Asian Champions Trophy 2026 in Punjab, scheduled to be held in Jalandhar and Mohali from October 27 to November 5.
Fresh off successfully defending its Asian Games title for the first time, Harmanpreet Singh will once again captain the team as defending champions India look to extend their record at the continental tournament.
India have won the Asian Champions Trophy five times, making them the most successful hockey team in the competition’s history.
Goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak has made a comeback to the squad, while young defender Amandeep Lakra and midfielder Aditya Lalage have earned another opportunity to strengthen their places in the senior team.
The squad retains the core group that recently helped India defend their Asian Games 2026 title in Japan.
Midfielder Vishnu Kant Singh and forward Angad Bir Singh have been named as reserve players alongside the 18-member playing squad.
The tournament will begin at the Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, which will host the opening ceremony and all league-stage matches from October 27 to November 2.
The competition will then move to Mohali for the semi-finals on November 4 with medal matches to follow on the next day at the Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium.
Chief coach Craig Fulton said the team was looking forward to playing in Punjab.
“This squad blends youth with experience, and we can’t wait to feed off the home crowd,” Fulton said. “There’s nothing like playing a tournament in India, and we’ve missed it.”
