After a 12-year absence, Algeria’s Desert Foxes are back on football‘s biggest stage.
The North African side has qualified for five FIFA World Cups – 1982, 1986, 2010, 2014 and 2026 – and has won the Africa Cup of Nations twice, in 1990 and 2019. Their best World Cup run came in 2014, when they reached the Round of 16 before losing to eventual champions Germany.
They are drawn in Group J alongside defending champions Argentina, Austria and Jordan.

Behind him, Bayer Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza has announced himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders, while Mohamed Amoura – the man who top-scored in CAF qualifying with 10 goals – gives the Fennecs a finishing edge that could genuinely unsettle Argentina.
