Indian shooters finished the ISSF Junior World Championship 2026 in Suhl, Germany, with 25 medals after bagging four more podium finishes to their tally in the 50m pistol – a non-Olympic event – on Thursday.

In the 50m men’s pistol shooting event, India’s Raj Chandra won the bronze medal with a score of 551-8x. Kumar Yogesh (548-4x) finished fourth.

The Indian trio of Kumar Yogesh, Prateek and Abhinav Choudhary took silver in the team category with a combined score of 1610-15x. An Individual Neutral Athlete team took gold while Ukraine bagged the bronze.

Aishwarya Ravichandra Balehosur narrowly missed out on the gold in the individual women’s 50m pistol event, after scoring 540-11x. Neutral athlete Sofiia Smetankina (540-12x) edged the gold.

Mongolia’s Ariunzaya Amarbayasgalan (535-4x) won the bronze, denying India’s Parisha Gupta (533-2x) a spot on the podium steps.

Parisha, however, bagged a bronze in the team category along with Sanskriti Bana and Sejal Kamble.

Meanwhile, India’s shotgun shooters blanked out in Suhl after finishing medalless in the mixed team trap event.

Yugan Muthukumaar and Addya Katyal finished 21st in the qualifiers and failed to qualify for the medal round while Zuhair Khan and Sabeera Haris were 24th.

The four medals on Thursday took India’s final tally at the ISSF Junior World Championships 2026 to 25 – seven gold, eight silver and 10 bronze – medals to top the standings for the second straight edition of the age-group competition.

India had also topped the medals tally at the previous edition held in Lima, Peru, with 24 medals, including 13 gold, three silver and eight bronze.

More than 800 shooters from 70 federations competed at the fifth edition of the Junior Shooting World Championships in Suhl. India had sent an 84-member contingent.
