Tanvi Patri and Abhinav Garg will lead a 19-member Indian squad at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2026 scheduled to be held in Yatsushiro, Japan, from June 26 to July 5.

The Badminton Asia Junior Championships will be held in two parts – the mixed team event scheduled from June 26 to 30 and individual events from July 1 to 5.
Indian badminton players are set to compete in both team and individual events.
Tanvi Patri, winner of the U15 individual competition at the 2024 edition of the tournament, and Abhinav Garg were selected directly in the team after winning the All India U-19 ranking tournament in Bengaluru last month.
The top-ranked doubles pair in each category also secured direct selection, with Punith S and Pavan S (men’s doubles), Diya Bheemaiah B and Baruni Parshwal (women’s doubles), and Punith S and Deepak Raj Aditi (mixed doubles) earning places in the squad.
The rest of the squad was picked following a selection trial at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati, according to the guidelines laid out by the Junior Selection Committee, BAI.
India have been drawn in Group C of the mixed team event at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships, alongside Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan and the Philippines.
The team event adopts a relay format, with the first side to reach 110 points declared the winner. It will begin with a group stage, followed by the quarter-finals, with the tournament then following a straight knockout format through to the final.

The upcoming edition of the junior continental badminton championships will be the 26th edition of the tournament.
India have won 11 medals at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships in the past, including individual golds by PV Sindhu in 2012 and Lakshya Sen in 2018.
At the 2025 Badminton Asia Junior Individual Championships, India’s Tanvi Sharma and Vennala Kalagotla won bronze medals in the U19 women’s event.
The Badminton Asia Junior Championships individual events will begin after the conclusion of the mixed team competition.
