Two-time world silver medallist Oriane Bertone added the continental title to her growing list of accolades, claiming the 2026 World Climbing Europe Championship – Boulder crown in Barcelona on Sunday (19 July).
The 21-year-old French climber was in fine fettle, topping three problems, including two flashes, for a winning score of 84.3 points.
Bertone took six attempts to master the first Boulder before she found her groove in the next two to take control of the competition. She had a slight hiccup in the tricky fourth problem, but she had done enough to secure the title.
Bertone shared the podium with fellow French climber Zelia Avezou, who flashed two problems but failed to get any points on the first Boulder, to claim second place with 59.9 points. Italy’s Camilla Moroni rounded out the podium after topping two Boulders to earn 59.1 points for third place.
Bertone upgrades the bronze medal she won at the 2022 European Championships, where she finished behind winner two-time Olympic champion Janja Garnbret.
“It was a nice fight against myself, and I won it so this is great,” Bertone told World Climbing.
“I knew I was either first or second on the last Boulder, but it is not about the result, it is about the climbing. I wanted to leave and be able to say I gave it my all and that is what I did.”
