The closing ceremony brought the curtains down on the Commonwealth Games 2026, with India finishing fourth in the medal standings after winning 39 medals – 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze.
The final day did not add to India’s medal tally. Judoka Ishroop Narang came closest but narrowly missed out on bronze in the women’s -78kg event after losing to Canada’s Coralie Godbout. India’s track cycling campaign also ended without a medal, with Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam finishing 20th in the men’s 1000m time trial, Dinesh Kumar exiting the men’s 40km points race qualifiers and Harshveer Singh Sekhon bowing out in his qualifying heat.
Focus then shifted to the closing ceremony at the Hydro, where Glasgow 2026 boxing champion Jaismine Lamboria carried the Tricolour during the athletes’ parade.
The Commonwealth Flag was officially handed over to India in the presence of Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra and Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha.
Shankar Mahadevan and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar headlined India’s cultural showcase, celebrating the country’s rich heritage through music, dance and the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (“the world is one family”), before an audiovisual presentation looked ahead to Ahmedabad 2030.
Glasgow 2026 Chair George Black wished Ahmedabad success in hosting the centenary Commonwealth Games, before Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, officially declared the Games closed and invited athletes from across the Commonwealth to reunite in India in 2030.

Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, declared the Commonwealth Games 2026 closed and looked ahead to the next edition in Ahmedabad in 2030, inviting athletes from across the Commonwealth to meet again.
Shankar Mahadevan, Manushi Chhillar in the spotlight
Indian singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar perform Vande Mataram. Traditional dance, colourful costumes and performances celebrating the country’s cultural diversity followed, centred around the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — “the world is one family.”
Later, an audiovisual presentation looked ahead to Ahmedabad 2030, highlighting India’s sporting journey and the centenary Commonwealth Games.
