Indian football club East Bengal continued their perfect record in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026-27 by beating Guam’s Rovers FC 12-0 in their second preliminary-stage match in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, on Thursday.
As many as nine different East Bengal players got on the scoresheet as the Moshal Girls made history with the biggest-ever win by an Indian club in an Asian competition, across both men’s and women’s football.
Their 12-0 victory surpassed the East Bengal men’s team’s 9-0 triumph over Maldives’ Club Valencia in the 1985-86 Asian Club Championship.
Priyangka Devi Naorem (6’, 22’), Olivia Anokye (48’, 58’), and Abena Anoma Opoku (64’, 70’) bagged braces, while Astam Oraon (14’), Abigail Antwi (49’), Sulanjana Raul (51’), Shilky Devi Hemam (56’), Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam (73’), and Soumya Guguloth (90+3’) netted once each.
The result came on the back of East Bengal’s 4-0 victory over Bangladesh’s Rajshahi Stars in their Group A opener, leaving the Indian side with 16 goals scored and none conceded after two matches.
Priyangka Devi Naorem gave East Bengal an early advantage, finding the net in the sixth and 22nd minutes, while Astam Oraon also scored in between in the 14th minute as the Indian club led 3-0 at the break.
East Bengal then continued their onslaught after half-time, with Olivia Anokye scoring twice in the 48th and 58th minutes. Abigail Antwi struck in the 49th, while Sulanjana Raul and Shilky Devi Hemam scored more goals in the 51st and 56th minutes, respectively.
Abena Anoma Opoku then joined the goals spree in the 64th and 70th minutes. Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam made it 11-0 in the 73rd minute before Soumya Guguloth rounded off the emphatic win with a stoppage-time strike.
East Bengal will now conclude their preliminary-stage campaign against hosts on Sunday.
The Moshal Girls qualified for the continental competition after winning the 2025-26 Indian Women’s League. The 2026-27 campaign is East Bengal’s second appearance in an AFC competition.
Last season, East Bengal became the first Indian club to win a match in the AFC Women’s Champions League.
The 2026-27 preliminary stage features 24 teams divided into six groups of four. The winner of each group will advance to the league stage, joining six teams that have received direct entry.
The 12 teams in the league stage will then be divided into three groups of four, with the main draw starting in November.
