On her first official visit to Mexico, Lidia Arthur Brito, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations, met with strategic partners in a dialogue to discuss joint actions to shorten the path to sustainable development, including ensuring access to inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all.
Facing a global landscape of social, technological, and economic change, UNESCO seeks to foster collaboration with Mexican companies and foundations that play a fundamental role in driving innovative solutions, such as in the areas of literacy and education, with the aim of guaranteeing equal opportunities for everyone.
Held in collaboration with Fundación Instituto Natura, the meeting provided a space to exchange experiences, identify shared priorities, and strengthen strategic alliances that will make it possible to generate concrete impact in the fields of education, science, culture, and communication and information.
The event brought together representatives of companies and foundations including Natura, Avon, Fundación Instituto Natura, Fundación Carlos Slim, Fundación Kaluz, Fundación Banorte, Banamex, Promotora Social México, Fundación Alberto Baillères, Microsoft México, L’Oréal México, Canon Mexicana, Airbnb, Tala México, Fundación Siete Colores, the World Boxing Council, Gentera, and Netflix. The organizations, on different fronts, advance education through initiatives in literacy, digital education platforms, training, scholarships, financial education, STEM talent development, and sport as a tool for inclusion, among others.
In the face of the great social, technological, and economic challenges we are living through, it is essential to join efforts among companies, foundations, international organizations, and other actors in society to generate innovative, long-term solutions.
