With PV Sindhu unable to travel for the All England Open Badminton Championships 2026, India’s campaign will be led by Lakshya Sen and the doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy–Chirag Shetty in Birmingham from Tuesday.

Sindhu, travelling to the All England Open via Dubai, was stuck in transit due to the situation in the Middle East. She eventually withdrew from the tournament.
In Sindhu’s absence, India’s challenge in women’s singles will be led by rising star Unnati Hooda, who beat Sindhu at the China Open last year, and Malvika Bansod.
In men’s singles, world No. 12 Lakshya Sen is the best-ranked Indian badminton player in the tournament. He reached the semi-finals at the All England Open in 2024 and the final in 2022.
India’s top men’s doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, fourth in the badminton rankings, will look for a deeper run after failing to make the quarter-finals at the India Open in January.
Two-time All England semi-finalist pair of Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand is India’s only entry in the women’s doubles draw.
Olympian Tanisha Crasto will team up with Dhruv Kapila in the mixed doubles.
The All England Open is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the BWF World Tour calendar. Only two Indians – Prakash Padukone (1980) and Pullela Gopichand (2001) – have ever won the title.
