Women’s T20 cricket has witnessed some sensational instances of individual brilliance with the ball, where bowlers have gone through the opposition’s batting line-up like a hot knife through butter.
None, however, has been more striking than Brazil’s Laura Cardoso, who finished with extraordinary figures of 9/4 against Lesotho to register the best bowling figures in women’s T20 cricket.
Playing in the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20I Tournament 2026 in Gaborone, Cardoso picked up a hat-trick in her first over, four more in her second before finishing with another two.
Marianne Artur took the other wicket in the innings.
The devastating spell saw Lesotho bundled out for 13 while chasing 203 to win.
Cardoso is also the first player to ever take nine wickets in an innings in T20I cricket – men or women.
Before the Brazilian, Indonesia’s Rohmalia held the record with a spell of 7-0 against Mongolia.
