Commodity prices broadly unchanged in July — Pink Sheet

The energy price index eased 1.1% in July, driven by declines in coal (-4.8%) and crude oil (-2.2%), partly offset by a 19.1% surge in Europe natural gas, according to the World Bank’s Pink Sheet. The non-energy index was broadly unchanged. 

Agricultural prices rose 2.6% in July, as a slight decline in food prices (-0.3%) and a 4.3% drop in fertilizer prices were more than offset by a 17.4% jump in beverage prices. Raw materials slipped 0.5%. 

Metals declined 2.8% in July, led by aluminum (-8.1%), and lead and nickel (-5.3% each). Precious metals fell 5.2%, reflecting declines in silver (-11.8%) and platinum (-6.0%).
