The Durand Cup 2026 is being played from July 25 to August 23, with 24 teams competing across six groups in the 135th edition of the historic football tournament.
The field includes teams from the Indian Super League, the Indian Football League, I-League 2, the Armed Forces and Sri Lankan side Defenders FC.
The Durand Cup 2026 will feature 43 matches. The 24 teams have been split into six groups of four, with each side playing the other teams in its group once. The six group winners, along with the two best second-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for August 16 and 17, followed by the semi-finals on August 19 and 20. The Durand Cup 2026 final will be played at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on August 23.
Matches are being staged across six venues in Kolkata, Ranchi, Imphal, Shillong and Guwahati.
First held in 1888 and organised by the Indian Armed Forces, the Durand Cup is Asia’s oldest football competition. Mohun Bagan are the tournament’s most successful club with 17 titles, one more than East Bengal.
The tournament is also the traditional curtain-raiser for the Indian domestic football season.
