Australia completed an unbeaten Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign after defeating England by seven wickets in the final at Lord’s on Sunday to claim a record-extending seventh title.
Beth Mooney continued her remarkable record in Women’s T20 World Cup finals with a composed 64 off 49 balls, while Phoebe Litchfield blasted 48 from 35 as Australia chased down 151 with 17 balls to spare.
The victory capped another dominant tournament for Australia, who finished with five wins from five in the group stage before overcoming the West Indies and England in the knockout rounds.
Earlier, England recovered from 70/4 to post 150/4 after being sent in to bat.
Australia struck twice inside the opening five overs, removing openers Amy Jones and tournament-leading run-scorer Danni Wyatt-Hodge to leave England under pressure.
Despite falling for just eight in the final, Wyatt-Hodge finished the tournament with 302 runs, becoming the first player to score 300 runs in a Women’s T20 World Cup.
Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt anchored England’s recovery with 58 not out from 53 deliveries, registering her third half-century of the tournament, while Freya Kemp provided the late acceleration with an unbeaten 44 off 28 balls to lift England to a competitive total.
Australia’s chase began with the early loss of Georgia Voll, but Mooney and Litchfield quickly seized control.
The pair added 100 runs for the second wicket in just 67 deliveries, taking Australia from 17/1 to 117/2 and effectively ending England’s hopes.
Australia raced to 50 inside five overs and reached 100 in the 11th over, maintaining the required tempo throughout the chase before Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner completed the formalities.
Mooney’s latest title-winning innings added to an outstanding record in Women’s T20 World Cup finals, following her unbeaten 78 in the 2020 final and unbeaten 74 in the 2023 decider.
She also became the first player to win the Player of the Final award twice and the first to be named Player of the Tournament on two occasions, having previously claimed the honour in 2020.
