The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced on Wednesday that the eighth edition of the FIH Pro League will run from December 8, 2026, to June 27, 2027, featuring 144 matches across seven countries.
The season opens in Argentina from December 8 to 13, with the hosts joined by the Chinese women’s team, the French men’s team and Great Britain’s men’s and women’s sides.
India will host one leg of the hockey competition from February 13 to 28, with Argentina, Germany, Great Britain and Spain featuring across the men’s and women’s tournaments.
The Indian men’s hockey team, bronze medallists at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finished eighth in two back-to-back seasons – one place safe from relegation. Pakistan were relegated after finishing bottom of the 2025-26 standings.
The Indian women’s hockey team returns to the Pro League after winning the FIH Nations Cup. India women missed the 2025-26 season following relegation after finishing bottom of the 2024-25 standings.
France also return to the men’s Pro League after earning promotion through the FIH Nations Cup.
FIH Hockey Pro League 2026-27 teams
- Men: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Netherlands, Spain
- Women: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, Great Britain, India, Netherlands, Spain
The FIH Hockey Pro League 2026-27 schedule will be announced at a later date.
The season concludes on June 27, with matches taking place in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
The FIH Pro League also serves as a qualification pathway for the LA 2028 Olympics. The men’s and women’s champions will qualify directly, while the bottom-placed team in each competition will be relegated to the FIH Nations Cup. The Nations Cup winners will replace them the following season.
Since the Hockey Pro League was launched in 2019, the Netherlands have dominated the competition. The Dutch women have won six of the seven titles, while the Dutch men have claimed three. Belgium are the reigning men’s champions.
