The FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 will be taking place in Belgium and the Netherlands from August 15 to 30.
There will be two separate FIH Hockey World Cup tournaments, one for men and the other for women.
For each tournament, 16 hockey teams have been split into four pools of four sides each.
However, unlike the previous edition, where the group winners advanced directly to the quarter-finals while the second and third-placed teams contested crossover matches for the remaining final-eight berths, the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup will not feature any quarter-final matches, creating a new pathway to the title for teams.
Here’s a closer look at how teams can progress through the different stages and earn a place in the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 final.
