Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League has witnessed thrilling, high-scoring matches, with batters consistently setting new benchmarks.
Once-unthinkable T20 cricket records have become routine as the format evolves, producing mammoth totals and redefining batting standards.
The past few years, in particular, have seen numerous batting records, including the highest scores by teams in T20s, broken and re-broken several times.
Sunrisers Hyderabad scored the highest score in IPL in 2024 when they posted 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. It is the highest total by any T20 franchise across the globe.
After being asked to bat first, SRH made RCB regret their decision at the toss and stopped just 13 runs short of the 300-run mark in their allotted 20 overs.
Opener Travis Head made 41-ball 102 while Heinrich Klaasen scored 67 off 31 balls to help SRH register the highest total in the IPL.
RCB tried to pull off the improbable chase with Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik scoring at a strike rate of more than 200 but managed only 262/7.
RCB’s response is the joint-highest IPL score by any team batting second. Punjab Kings’ 262/2 against Kolkata Knight Riders, also in IPL 2024, however, was a successful chase.
SRH came close to matching their own record against Rajasthan Royals at home in IPL 2025 but fell one run short despite a brilliant century by Ishan Kishan in front of their home crowd.
SRH, in fact, have four entries in the top five highest scores by teams in the IPL list. They posted 277 against Mumbai Indians and 266 against Delhi Capitals with both coming in IPL 2024. In IPL 2025, SRH also made 278/3 against KKR.
DC were also on the receiving end when Kolkata Knight Riders recorded the fourth-highest score – 272/7 – in IPL 2024.
