The Indian cricket team’s formidable home record will be on the line when they face the West Indies in the fifth and final match of the IND vs WI T20I 2026 series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The fifth India vs West Indies T20 will start at 7:00 PM IST and will be available for live streaming and telecast.

With the series currently locked at 2-2, the Bengaluru match will decide the winner.

The West Indies, consequently, could become the first team in more than seven years to beat India in a bilateral T20 series in their own backyard.

With Jasprit Bumrah rested and Arshdeep Singh nursing a shoulder injury he picked up while batting during the last match, India have drafted in veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar into the squad to bolster the pace battery.

Known for his ability to swing the ball, Bhuvneshwar could be a useful option if the forecast overcast conditions persist in Bengaluru.

The 36-year-old Indian cricketer could also be in line for his first international appearance since November 2022.

India vs West Indies 5th T20I 2026 weather forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies, with spells of rain or thundershowers likely in Bengaluru on Saturday, October 17.

Australia were the last visiting team to win a T20I series in India – a 2-0 sweep in February 2019. The Men in Blue have since gone unbeaten in 19 bilateral T20I series at home, winning 17 and drawing two.

The ongoing year has been a contrasting one for the Indian cricket team.

India successfully defended their T20 World Cup title earlier this year but subsequently suffered a 2-0 series defeat in Ireland before going down 4-0 to England away.

The reigning world champions returned to winning ways by beating Zimbabwe 3-0 away and Afghanistan at home by the same margin before successfully defending their Asian Games title in Japan.

Captain Shreyas Iyer is India’s leading scorer in the ongoing series with 159 runs, including an unbeaten 102 in the opening match in Lucknow.

India’s bowling, however, has been put under sustained pressure by the Windies batting unit spearheaded by their skipper Shai Hope, who has been in incredible form throughout the tour.

Hope is the top scorer in the series with 261 runs in four matches, including unbeaten centuries in Ranchi and Hyderabad.

His 102 not out in Ranchi powered West Indies to 252/4 while chasing 250 – their highest successful T20I chase and the second-highest overall.

Hope struck another unbeaten 102 in Hyderabad as the visitors posted 247/3 before Keemo Paul claimed 5/41 to help bowl India out for 223.

India vs West Indies T20I head-to-head record

India lead the overall IND vs WI T20 head-to-head 22-12, with one match ending with no result.

However, the West Indies won the previous bilateral series between the teams 3-2 in the Caribbean and the United States in 2023 and will be chasing their first bilateral T20I series victory on Indian soil on Saturday.
