USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame coach Laurent Landi is taking the leap into collegiate gymnastics.
The University of Georgia announced Tuesday (12 May) that Landi will join his wife, head coach and 1996 Olympian Cécile Canqueteau-Landi, as associate head coach for the 2026-27 season – his first collegiate coaching position.
Together, the pair guided Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles to each of the past two Olympic Games, with Biles collecting three gold medals at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. During their time coaching together in the club ranks, they also produced 13 USA Women’s Senior National Team members.
“I’m incredibly honored to join a program with such a strong tradition and limitless potential,” Landi said in a statement from the university. “The opportunity to work with Cécile again is something I’m truly excited about, and I look forward to helping push UGA to even greater heights. Above all, I’m passionate about supporting our student-athletes, helping them believe in themselves, reach their goals, and thrive both as athletes and as young women.”
Since Paris, Landi had been working as a coaching consultant, most recently with the Mexican and French national teams.
Cécile Canqueteau-Landi says she saw the move into collegiate coaching coming.
“Seeing him at every home meet becoming more and more invested, I had a feeling he would eventually want to join me in helping bring this program back to the top,” she said. “His experience, passion, and commitment to excellence will make such a positive impact on our student athletes and our future.”
