Recording of the Webinar on Open Access to Publications and Databases of the World Bank Group
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the Office of the Executive Director, as part of its 2025-2026 Action Plan, organized – I partnership with the World Bank Group Publishing Office – a webinar dedicated to the use of World Bank Group knowledge resources, targeting universities and academic institutions from member countries of the Africa Group II.
The session was opened by the Executive Director for Africa Group II, Mr. Harold Tavares, who emphasized the strategic importance of open access to knowledge in strengthening academic and institutional capacities. He notably highlighted the objective of facilitating access to these resources for national stakeholders:
“We aim to facilitate access for universities, academic institutions, as well as research and analytical units within ministerial departments of our countries, to the World Bank Group’s knowledge resources, which are freely available online.”
The technical presentation was delivered by Ms. Devika McWalters, WBG Publishing Officer, Marketing & Outreach Lead, who introduced the main knowledge platforms and resources made available by the World Bank Group. The discussions were supported by Ms. Malika Khek, WBG IT Officer, who provided translation and interpretation services throughout the session.
Through the organization of this webinar, the Executive Director office reaffirms its commitment to knowledge dissemination, capacity building, and the promotion of effective use of knowledge resources in support of development efforts.
