The world’s top sprinters, hurdles, distance runner, jumpers and throwers will descend on Budapest, Hungary, for the first-ever World Athletics Ultimate Championship from 11-13 September.
The Gyula Zsivotzky National Athletics Centre will take centre stage as the crème de la crème of track & field compete for glory across 26 individual events – 13 for men and 13 for women – plus two relays.
Those invited to compete at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship include the reigning world, Olympic and Diamond League champions – who earned automatic berths – as well as those who have qualified via their world ranking and a small number of exceptional invitations.
Unlike the World Championships, no medals will be on the line, but each athlete who wins an individual event will receive their own trophy and the title of “Ultimate Champion”.
