Esha Singh won gold and Manu Bhaker bagged bronze in the women’s 25m pistol event as India secured a double podium finish at the ISSF World Cup 2026 in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China, on Monday.
The 21-year-old Esha Singh topped the final with a score of 40 hits, finishing ahead of China’s Zhang Yueyue, who managed 37.
Two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker completed the podium for India after winning a crucial shoot-off before finishing with a score of 28 to secure bronze.
The top finish in Hangzhou was Esha Singh’s second ISSF World Cup gold medal of the season, having also won the 25m pistol event at the Munich World Cup in May. She had also won silver at Munich over the 10m distance.
Manu Bhaker, on the other hand, won her first individual medal of the season at Hangzhou, with her only previous podium finish this year coming in Munich in the 10m air pistol women’s team.
Earlier, Manu Bhaker advanced to the final after placing sixth in qualification with 586-20x while Esha Singh finished eighth in qualification with a score of 585-18x.
Olympian Rahi Sarnobat, Simranpreet Kaur Brar and Abhidnya Ashok Patil also featured in the women’s 25m pistol event but failed to make it beyond qualification.
Meanwhile, none of the Indian shooters in shotgun managed to qualify for the women’s trap final.
Bhowneesh Mendiratta was the only Indian to progress to the men’s trap final after winning a shoot-off, having finished with a total of 122 in qualification.
He finished sixth in the men’s trap final after shooting a total of 11.
The two medals on Monday saw India’s overall tally in Hangzhou rise to three – one gold, one silver and a bronze – after Sainyam Vij’s silver in the women’s 10m air pistol on Friday.
Individual gold medallists at the ISSF World Cup will qualify for the year-end ISSF World Cup Final, which will be held in Rome in December.
The Hangzhou shooting meet is a combined ISSF World Cup, featuring rifle, pistol and shotgun shooters, and will conclude on Tuesday.
