Indian Super League champions East Bengal FC and Oman’s Al-Seeb Club played out a goalless draw in their AFC Champions League Two 2026-27 Group D encounter on Tuesday, leaving both sides searching for their first win of the campaign.
The result kept East Bengal third in the group with two points, while Al Seeb remained fourth with one point at the halfway stage of the group phase.
After opening their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Jordan’s Al-Hussein SC, East Bengal led twice but lost 3-2 to Iraqi side Al-Shorta in their second match in Group D.
Playing at home, Al Seeb started brightly, with Abdulmageed Al Balushi forcing a save from East Bengal goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa in the eighth minute. Ahmed Al Riyami then curled a left-footed effort narrowly wide after Abdulaziz Al Maqbali’s run down the left.
East Bengal responded through David Lalhlansanga and Anwar Ali, but while the former tested goalkeeper Muatasim Al Wahaibi, the latter fired over under pressure.
Edmund Lalrindika had a chance to put the visitors ahead shortly after the restart, racing past Hassan Al Ajmi before shooting over from inside the box in the 49th minute.
Al Seeb then threatened through Augustine Oladapo’s chipped pass to Axel Meye, but the forward dragged his effort wide. Despite opportunities at both ends, neither side found a breakthrough as the points were shared.
The Red and Gold Brigade will square off against Al-Seeb Club in their reverse group-stage clash at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata next Tuesday.
A total of 32 football teams – 16 each from the West and East Zones – are competing in the AFC Champions League Two group stage. They have been divided into eight groups of four teams each.
