Ankush continued India’s perfect run in the boxing ring today, storming into the men’s 80kg semi-finals with a dominant 5-0 win over Jade Micock of Seychelles.

He will face Canada’s Joshua Ofori in the semis on Friday and his quarter-final victory takes India’s assured boxing medal tally in Glasgow to eight.

She became the second Indian boxer to advance to the semi-finals today, following Sakshi Chaudhary.

Animesh Kujur qualified for the men’s 200m semi-finals after winning his heat and finishing seventh in the overall standings.

The Indian national record holder clocked a season-best 20.46s, finishing ahead of reigning CWG 100m champion Emmanuel Eseme and will return to the track for the semi-finals on Thursday.

Boxing: Sakshi Chaudhary storms into semi-finals, secures medal

India’s Sakshi Chaudhary booked her place in the women’s 51kg semi-finals with a unanimous 5-0 decision over Ireland’s Caitlin Fryers.

Sakshi, who now has at least a bronze assured, will face Canada’s Amber-Jane Wall in the semi-finals on Friday.

“I just prepared myself just to qualify for semis. In semis, I have to give my best. There’s no other option,” Kujur said.

“This is the first time when I am stepping into this track, and it felt too nice. And I’m feeling like I’m going to fly. I’m going to fly in semis,” he added.

Para swimming: Chaitanya Kulkarni, Suyash Jadhav through to 50m freestyle S7 final

Chaitanya Kulkarni and Suyash Jadhav booked their places in the men’s 50m freestyle S7 final after finishing fourth and sixth, respectively, in the heats.

Kulkarni clocked 32.77s, while Jadhav touched in 35.35s. The final is scheduled for later tonight at 12:46 AM IST.

Athletics: Animesh Kujur wins heat with season-best time

Animesh Kujur won Heat 4 of the men’s 200m after clocking a season-best 20.46s, putting himself in a strong position to progress to the semi-finals.

The Indian sprinter is currently fifth in the overall standings and will have to wait for the remaining heats to conclude to find out if his time is among the 16 fastest who will enter the semi-finals.

Athletics: Samardeep Singh Gill joins Toor in shot put final

Samardeep Singh Gill joined compatriot Tajinderpal Singh Toor in the men’s shot put final after producing a best throw of 19.95m on his first attempt.

Although he fell just short of the automatic qualification mark of 20m, Samardeep’s effort was enough to place him fifth in the overall standings and secure a spot in Thursday’s final.
