The India vs West Indies T20I 2026 series ended 2-2 after rain forced the fifth and final match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to be abandoned on Saturday.

The series decider had already been reduced to nine overs per side following an earlier rain delay, with West Indies winning the toss and opting to field.

The Indian cricket team raced to 118/5 in 7.4 overs before another downpour brought the innings to a premature end. Persistent rain meant the West Indies could not begin the minimum five-over chase required for a result.

Ishan Kishan top-scored for India with a 10-ball 30, while Naman Dhir was unbeaten on 24 from just six deliveries when play was stopped.

Shamar Springer returned 2/17 for the West Indies, while Keemo Paul picked up 2/34.

The abandonment ensured India extended their unbeaten run in bilateral T20I series at home, which stretches back to their 2-0 loss against Australia in February 2019.

India have now gone 20 consecutive bilateral T20I series at home without defeat, winning 17 and drawing three.

Coincidentally, the previous drawn series also ended 2-2 against South Africa in June 2022, when rain washed out the fifth-match decider at the same venue in Bengaluru.

West Indies, meanwhile, were denied the opportunity to secure their first bilateral T20I series victory on Indian soil.

Despite the anti-climactic finish, the shortened contest produced plenty of early fireworks.

Abhishek Sharma struck a six in the opening over before Kishan attacked with three fours and two sixes in his 10-ball cameo.

India reached 46/2 at the end of the 2.4-over powerplay, with Kishan having fallen for 30.

Sanju Samson struck 16 off seven before Springer sent his off stump cartwheeling, while Indian T20 captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 22 off 14.

India were 88/4 after Shreyas departed in the seventh over before Naman provided another late burst, striking one four and three sixes during his six-ball stay to push India past 100.

Tilak Varma was bowled by Springer for seven with India on 118/5 when the rain intensified and forced the players off the field.

Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named in India’s playing XI for his first international appearance since November 2022, but the weather denied him the opportunity to bowl.

IND vs WI 5th T20I 2026, brief scores: India 118/5 in 7.4 overs (Ishan Kishan 30, Naman Dhir 24 not out; Shamar Springer 2/17, Keemo Paul 2/34) vs West Indies – no result.
