The Hockey India League 2025-26 season got underway on December 28.
Like last season, two hockey tournaments – one for men and one for women – will be played.
The Women’s HIL 2025-26 season kicked off with SG Pipers beating Ranchi Royals 2-0 in the opening match at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi – a venue which will host all 13 matches of the tournament.
The Women’s HIL 2025-26 season will see four teams – Ranchi Royals, SG Pipers, Soorma Hockey Club and Shrachi Bengal Tigers – compete for the HIL title.
Ranchi Royals have replaced the Odisha Warriors, who won the inaugural 2024-25 Women’s HIL season but withdrew this year, ensuring a new champion will be crowned in 2025-26.
The women’s league – staged entirely – comprises 13 matches and follows a double round-robin format, with each team playing the others twice. The top two teams after the league stage will meet in the final on January 10.
