Two goals from Ayoub El Kaabi (including a spectacular overhead kick) powered hosts Morocco to a 3-0 win over Zambia on Monday (29 December), cementing their passage into the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Olympiakos striker scored in each half in front of 62,532 fans at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, while Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz added a third, finding the net for the third consecutive match at the tournament.
Morocco finished the group stage unbeaten with two wins and a draw, topping Group A with seven points.
Mali placed second after being held to a third successive draw, a goalless result against Comoros.
As group winners, Walid Regragui’s side will have the advantage of remaining in Rabat for their Round of 16 tie, where they will face one of the best third-placed teams on Sunday, 4 January.read
