AFCON 2025: Mali end Morocco’s winning streak after 1-1 draw, Zambia in goalless draw with Comoros

Mali’s Eagles put on a bullish display to put an end to Morocco’s 19-game winning run at the Prince Moullay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat in their second group game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations football tournament on Friday night.

With a very good record backing them and playing at home, there was a lot of expectation. Morocco would have earned a place in the knockout stages with a win but the Atlas Lions were faced with a tough task on the night.

The record looked set to continue when Brahim Díaz converted from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time. But the resilience in the second half from the Malians earned them a penalty of their own in the 64th minute and Lassine Sinayoko made no mistake from 12 yards.

Morocco’s party will have to wait now until the final group game when they take on Zambia.
