India secured two bronze medals at the Asia Cup 2026 archery Stage I tournament in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday, with the recurve women’s team and compound men’s team claiming podium finishes in their respective events.
Competing at the SAT Football Stadium, the Indian women’s recurve archery team of Ruma Biswas, Kirti and Ridhi beat Malaysia 5-1 in the bronze medal match.
The trio had earlier finished third in the qualifying round with a combined score of 1915. Ruma Biswas led the charge with 650, while Kirti and Ridhi contributed 638 and 627, respectively.
In the women’s recurve team event, India defeated Chinese Taipei 6-2 in the quarter-finals before going down 5-1 to the People’s Republic of China in the semis.
In the compound men’s team event, Rajat Chauhan, Uday Kamboj and world No. 4 Rishabh Yadav also claimed bronze after edging Bhutan 234-232 in a closely fought contest.
The Indian men’s compound team had beaten Chinese Taipei 238-228 in the quarter-finals but suffered a narrow 234-233 defeat against Vietnam in the semis.
India had earlier dominated the compound men’s qualification round, finishing first with a score of 2126. Rajat Chauhan led the field with 712, while Rishabh Yadav (708) and Uday Kamboj (706) claimed the second and third spots.
The mixed team events will be held on Thursday with India in contention in both recurve and mixed disciplines.
India have also confirmed medals in women’s compound and men’s recurve team events, with both units qualifying for the finals scheduled on Friday.
Indian women’s compound team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Raj Kaur and Tejal Rajendra Salve and the men’s recurve team of Devaang Gupta, Sukhchain Singh and Juyel Sarkar will both face sides from Kazakhstan in their respective gold medal matches.
The individual events will also conclude on Friday with Tejal Rajendra Salve in contention for a bronze medal in women’s compound.
Prathamesh Jawkar will face Uday Kamboj in all Indian compound men’s final, while Rajat Chauhan could make it a sweep if he wins the bronze match.
Ridhi Phor will contest for bronze in women’s recurve.
There will, however, be no Indian representation in men’s recurve medal matches.
India have sent a 16-member Indian squad – eight men and eight women – across recurve and compound archery events for the Asia Cup 2026 in Bangkok.
