The Indian women’s football team will look to turn the page when it opens the FIFA Series 2026 Kenya campaign in Nairobi, which will run from April 11 to 15.
A total of four matches will be played in the tournament – all at the Nyayo National Stadium. India will take on hosts Kenya on Saturday. Australia and Malawi are the other two teams that will be in action.
India are the second-highest ranked side at 67th. Australia, 15th in the FIFA world rankings lead the field, while Kenya and Malawi are placed 134th and 153rd, respectively.
India’s matches in the FIFA Series 2026 Kenya will be available on live streaming.
Launched in 2024, the FIFA Series is designed to provide international exposure through inter-confederation match-ups, offering teams valuable competitive minutes outside traditional tournaments.
This will be India’s first assignment since Crispin Chettri returned as head coach, following a group-stage exit from the AFC Women’s Asian Cup under Costa Rican manager Amelia Valverde last month.
Having previously coached the side during the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifying campaign, Crispin Chettri returns with a chance to rebuild.
Australia and Malawi will contest the first semi-final on Saturday, with the winners advancing to the final and the losers playing the third-place match on Wednesday.
Tied games will go straight to a penalty shootout, with no extra time.
The Blue Tigresses have named a 22-member squad for the friendly tournament. Shilky Devi Hemam, 20, who was also part of India’s AFC Women’s Asian Cup squad, retains her place, while Sanfida Nongrum, who scored against Vietnam in the Asian Cup, also features in the team.
However, experienced forwards Grace Dangmei and Manisha Kalyan are not in the squad. Anju Tamang, who was injured ahead of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, also misses out.
