The Indian football team will be looking to end their AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers campaign on a high when they host Hong Kong China at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday.

This will be the first time in 10 years that the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi will be hosting a football match for the Indian senior national team.
The last time India played at Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was in a 2016 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Turkmenistan.
India head into their clash against Hong Kong China rooted to the bottom of Group C, having managed just two points from five matches and already out of contention for qualification to the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
The Blue Tigers are also the only team in their group yet to win a match in their AFC Asian Cup 2027 campaign.
Head coach Khalid Jamil initially announced a 23-member Indian squad for their match against Hong Kong China.
Sunil Chhetri, who came out of retirement during an earlier AFC Asian Cup qualifiers clash against Bangladesh to bolster India’s qualification push, has not been named in the 23-member squad.
Australian-born forward Ryan Williams could make his debut for India after being named in the squad. The striker recently relinquished his birth-country citizenship to represent India and has been approved by FIFA to represent the team.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong China, who are second in Group C with eight points after five matches, are also out of qualification contention since only table-toppers advance to the AFC Asian Cup.
India lost 1-0 to Hong Kong China in their reverse AFC Asian Cup qualifiers match after conceding a stoppage-time goal from the penalty spot.

In terms of the overall head-to-head between the teams, both India and Hong Kong China have won nine times each. Seven of the 25 fixtures have ended in draws.
India are 140th in the FIFA rankings, while Hong Kong China are world No. 151.
