The IPL 2026 playoffs schedule was finalised on May 24 after Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium to seal the fourth spot on the points table.
RR finished the league stage with 16 points to finish behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RCB, GT and SRH all finished on 18 points and were separated by Net Run Rate.
The top four teams at the end of the 70-match league stage qualified for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
As per the rules of the Indian Premier League, the top two teams – RCB and GT – will face off in IPL 2026 Qualifier 1.
The match will be held on May 26 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, with the winner directly advancing to the final.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2026 Eliminator will see the teams finishing third and fourth – SRH and RR – face each other at New Chandigarh’s New International Cricket Stadium on May 27.
The same venue will also host Qualifier 2 on May 29, where the loser of Qualifier 1 will face the winner of the Eliminator to determine the second finalist.
The IPL 2026 final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31.
Ahmedabad will stage the IPL final for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The 2025 IPL final was also held in Ahmedabad.
The final was originally scheduled at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru before being moved to Gujarat.
“Bengaluru was originally designated to host the final. However, owing to certain requirements from the local association and authorities that were beyond the scope of BCCI’s established guidelines and protocols, the venue has been shifted and reassigned,” the IPL stated in its release.
