India’s N Sriram Balaji and his Austrian partner Neil Oberleitner won the doubles title at the Oeiras Open 3 2026 ATP Challenger tennis tournament in Portugal on Sunday.
The third-seeded Indo-Austrian tennis pair defeated Colombia’s Nicolas Barrientos and Uruguay’s Ariel Behar 6(9)-7(7), 6-4, 11-9 in a hard-fought final to clinch the crown.
After dropping the opening set in a tie-breaker, Balaji, a Paris 2024 Olympian, and Neil Oberleitne recovered to level the scores in the second set.
With the super-tiebreaker invoked, the two teams went toe-to-toe and matched each other point for point.
The 36-year-old Balaji and Oberleitner held their nerves to save a match point before converting their own to settle the match in one hour and 49 minutes.
This was the Indian tennis player’s 18th ATP Challenger title of his career and the fourth this year, partnering Oberleitner.
Back in January, Sriram Balaji and Neil Oberleitner won the Nonthaburi Challenger II ATP Challenger 75 in Bangkok and the Bahrain Open ATP Challenger 125 in Manama.
The duo also emerged victorious at the Terega Open Pau Pyrenees ATP 125 event in France back in February. The Oeiras Open 3 was also an ATP 125 designated tournament.
Meanwhile, this was Balaji and Oberleitner’s first clay court title as a duo. The previous three were hard-court tournaments.
