PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and double stars Chirag Shetty–Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will headline the Indian badminton squads at the Thomas & Uber Cup 2026, which will be held in Horsens, Denmark, from April 24 to May 3.
The Badminton Association of India has selected a mix of experienced campaigners and in-form youngsters for the 2026 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals.
The core of the Indian men’s badminton team, which secured a historic Thomas Cup crown in 2022, will return for the upcoming edition.
Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy will be leading the charge in singles, alongside the established doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.
Young shuttler Ayush Shetty, the 2025 US Open badminton champion, has earned a maiden call-up in India’s Thomas Cup line-up after consistent performances on the senior circuit.
The men’s squad also marks the return of MR Arjun, who has worked his way back from injury. Along with Hariharan Amsakarunan, he will strengthen India’s doubles credentials.
Dhruv Kapila adds support and experience to the doubles line-up while Kiran George adds depth to the singles roster.
India have been placed in Group A alongside defending champions, the People’s Republic of China, Canada and Australia for the Thomas Cup 2026 group stage.
In the Uber Cup – a women’s team event – two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will lead India’s charge alongside the top doubles duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, as the side aims to surpass its previous semi-final finishes.
Unnati Hooda will also be a part of the Indian women’s badminton team in Denmark, alongside in-form Devika Sihag, Isharani Baruah and teenager Tanvi Sharma.
Devika Sihag’s selection follows her title-winning run at the Thailand Masters earlier this year, while Isharani comes in on the back of a semi-final finish at the Orleans Masters.
Tanvi continues to build her reputation as one of the sport’s brightest prospects, while Hooda’s rapid rise has already brought her three senior titles.
Kavipriya Selvam could make her Uber Cup debut with partner Simran Singhi, while Paris 2024 Olympian Tanisha Crasto completes the women’s doubles unit.
The Indian women’s badminton team has been drawn in Group A of the 2026 Uber Cup alongside defending champions China, hosts Denmark and Ukraine.
The selections were based on BWF badminton rankings as of March 10, with the top five singles players and top two doubles pairs making the cut.
Additional inclusions were made keeping team combinations in mind, with players like Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto earning spots due to their experience across doubles formats.
