WASHINGTON, August 25, 2026—The World Bank Group announced the appointment of Yuko Keicho as Vice President and Auditor General.

Keicho will lead the Internal Audit Vice Presidency, providing independent assurance and advisory services that support effective governance, accountability, risk management, and internal controls across the institution. She will report to World Bank Group President Ajay Banga and functionally to the Audit Committee.

Independent audit is foundational to the trust and accountability that underpin everything the World Bank Group does. Yuko’s appointment reflects the World Bank Group’s commitment to the highest standards of governance across the institution.

A Japanese national, Keicho brings more than 30 years of experience in internal audit, governance, risk management, and development finance across multilateral institutions and the private sector. Most recently, she served as Auditor General at the Asian Development Bank, where she provided independent assurance and advisory services to senior management and the Board, strengthened governance and risk management frameworks, and modernized the internal audit function.

Prior to this, Keicho spent over two decades at the World Bank Group, most recently as Director for Strategy and Operations in Internal Audit. Beyond her institutional leadership, Keicho is an active contributor to the global internal audit profession, serving on the International Internal Audit Standards Board and holding several international oversight roles.
