The World Bank Group is mobilizing a comprehensive response to the earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, working alongside the Government of Colombia and development partners to address immediate needs and laying the foundations for recovery.
The World Bank Group has disbursed US$200 million on August 13 for the emergency response. It has also launched a Global Rapid Assessment of Damages from Earthquakes (GRADE) to provide the Government with an early assessment of economic loss to help it prioritize aid and reconstruction efforts. It is also working with Colombia’s development banks, financial institutions, and the private sector to channel financing to affected communities and businesses — including support for public health, housing, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
The World Bank Group stands with Colombia and remains committed to supporting the country’s recovery.
