Indian table tennis players won three out of the five events, while South Korean paddlers triumphed in the women’s doubles and singles events.
Payas Jain completed a doubles double at the WTT Feeder Vadodara 2026 table tennis tournament after winning both the mixed and men’s doubles titles at the SAMA Indoor Sports Complex in Gujarat on Sunday.
Indian table tennis players won three out of the five events at the inaugural WTT Feeder Vadodara tournament. The Republic of Korea’s paddlers won the other two.Â
In the mixed doubles final – the first final of the day – unseeded Payas Jain and Syndrela Das fought back after losing the opening game to beat second seeds Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade 3-1 (8-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-6).
Soon after, top seeds Payas Jain and Ankur Bhattacharjee clinched the men’s doubles title after getting the better of second-seeded Akash Pal and Mudit Dani 3-1 (12-10, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8).
However, Payas Jain, who had beaten fifth seed Akash Pal 3-0 (11-5, 12-10, 11-9) in the men’s singles semi-finals, fell short in the final against Manush Shah.
Payas Jain took the first two games before Manush Shah rallied to win the next three and clinch the men’s singles title. The final scoreline read 3-2 (7-11, 10-12, 11-6, 11-6, 11-8).
Meanwhile, Anusha Kutumbale’s dream run from the qualifiers to the final ended with a 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-5) defeat in the women’s singles final against South Korea’s Ryu Han-na.
Ryu Han-na and Yoo Yerin, the top seeds, also prevailed in a tight five-game final by beating second-seeded Indians Ayhika Mukherjee and Sutirtha Mukherjee 3-2 (4-11, 11-9, 11-9, 4-11, 11-9) to win the women’s doubles title.
The inaugural edition of the five-day WTT Feeder Vadodara table tennis tournament witnessed 108 players from 10 different countries take part.
