India’s Suraj Kumar Chand and Egypt’s Rouqaia Othman won the men’s and women’s titles, respectively, at the HCL Squash PSA Challenger Tour 2026 in Chennai on Sunday.

Second seed Suraj Kumar Chand needed 34 minutes to wrap up the men’s final, defeating eighth-seeded Jeongmin Ryu of the Republic of Korea 3-0 (11-5, 11-9, 11-3) to secure his fourth PSA Challenger Tour title.

The 25-year-old Indian squash player capped a dominant week in Chennai, not dropping a single game en route to the title. After receiving a first-round bye, Chand opened his campaign with a 3-0 (11-6, 11-7, 11-8) win over compatriot Aryaveer Dewan.

He followed it up with a commanding quarter-final performance, brushing aside fellow Indian Om Semwal 3-0 (11-8, 11-1, 11-4). In the semi-finals, Chand maintained his perfect campaign to beat Hong Kong China’s Wailok To 3-0 (11-8, 11-7, 11-6).

This was Suraj Kumar Chand’s first squash title since 2024, a year when he won three tournaments – the Sunil Verma Memorial in Mumbai, the Poona Club Open in Pune and the Northern Slam in New Delhi.

In the women’s final, seventh seed Rouqaia Othman of Egypt defeated Malaysia’s second seed Harleein Tan 3-1 (12-10, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7) to take the title.

India’s challenge in the women’s draw ended in the quarter-finals, with top seed Rathika Suthanthira Seelan, Nirupama Dubey and Pooja Arthi Raghu bowing out in the last eight.

Teenage prodigy and Asian Games medallist Anahat Singh did not feature in the Chennai event.

Squash is set to make its Olympic debut at LA 2028.
