Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from Wimbledon 2026 on the eve of the opening round.

The Brit has been managing a recurring right leg injury since the end of the tennis clay court season. A scan on Sunday (28 June) revealed a stress fracture in her lower right leg.

“I’ve done everything possible to try to get to the start line tomorrow, but after a final scan tonight, the niggle I’ve been managing has developed into a stress fracture,” Raducanu posted on Instagram.

“I’ve been medically advised to stop pushing through.”

Hopes had been high for the British women’s No. 1 ahead of her home major. The 23-year-old looked to be back in fine form with a run to the Queen’s Club final in London this month.

“Playing at Wimbledon, in front of a home crowd, means everything to me, so this is really difficult to process,” she continued.

“I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement. Especially at a time like this, it is invaluable.

“I look forward to seeing you when I’m back.”
