This hidden network forms the karst systems – complex landscape that may be invisible from the surface but are essential to the lives of millions.
For DIKTAS II‘s youngest expert, Uroš Jurošević, this unseen world is a source of endless fascination.
Uroš is a young hydrogeologist from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Like many students, he began his university career unsure of what his professional future would hold, especially as geology and hydrogeology are still not well represented at the primary and secondary education levels.
Yet, when he started exploring these disciplines, Uroš discovered just how fundamental they are to daily life and to the management of natural resources. “The most interesting thing about hydrogeology and groundwater is that we study and explore a resource that’s all around us, but it is not always easy to access or understand,” he explains.
