Spain dominated the major individual prizes at the FIFA World Cup 2026 following their 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the final on Sunday (19 July).
The Spanish trio of Pau Cubarsí, Unai Simón and Rodri were acknowledged for their efforts throughout the tournament, while France’s Kylian Mbappé walked away with the Golden Boot Award.
Rodri not only got to raise the FIFA World Cup trophy but was also named the best player of the tournament, receiving the Golden Ball Award.

Kylian Mbappe beats Lionel Messi to the Golden Boot – again
France’s Kylian Mbappé walked away with the Golden Boot award for the second consecutive FIFA World Cup courtesy of his 10 goals during the 2026 tournament.
Mbappé pipped Argentina’s Lionel Messi to the post after netting two goals in France’s 6-4 defeat in the bronze-medal match, while he also made four assists during the tournament.
Playing in back-to-back finals, Messi still had a shot at getting his hands on the Golden Boot but could not add to his eight goals following their 1-0 defeat by Spain in the final in extra time.
Rodri wins coveted Golden Ball Award
Spanish captain Rodri has been a revelation in the midfield, anchoring their miserly defence, which ultimately won them the FIFA World Cup.
The eventual winners have conceded just once in the entire tournament across eight games. Rodri played a pivotal role in protecting the backline and leading his side to victory.
Safe hands: Unai Simón wins Golden Glove
Manning Spain’s last line of defence, goalkeeper Unai Simón was honoured for his spectacular performances throughout the tournament.
Simón was awarded the 2026 FIFA World Cup Golden Glove, bowing out of the competition with a record seven clean sheets.
The 29-year-old Simón conceded only one goal in eight matches during their campaign, against Belgium.
Pau Cubarsí receives Young Player Award
Pau Cubarsí added more bling to his luggage after being named FIFA Young Player of the tournament.
The 19-year-old is fresh off celebrating Spain’s second World Cup victory, joining the list of previous winners including Kylian Mbappé, Thomas Muller and Enzo Fernandez.
The Young Player Award is presented to the best young player born on or after 1 January 2005.
