The Indian women’s cricket team maintained its perfect record against Sri Lanka in the five-match IND-W vs SL-W T20 2025 series, following a 30-run victory in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday to take a 4-0 lead.

Batting first for the first time in the series, the Indian cricket team, riding on top knocks from Smriti Mandhana (80 off 48) and Shafali Verma (79 off 46), produced a blistering display to post their highest T20I total – 221/2.

Faced with a daunting task, Sri Lanka showed intent but managed 191/6 in their 20 overs. Skipper Chamari Athapaththu top-scored with a 37-ball 52 while Vaishnavi Sharma 2/24 was the pick of the Indian bowlers.

After being put into bat first, India got off to a flyer with Shafali and Smriti taking the attack to Sri Lanka from the outset. The opening duo added a record-breaking 162 off 92 balls for the first wicket – the highest partnership for India in women’s T20Is.

Shafali was the early aggressor, racing to a half-century – her third on the trot – off just 30 balls. Mandhana grew into the innings as India surged to 61/0 in the powerplay. At the halfway mark, India were cruising at 85/0, before the acceleration truly began.

The pair brought up their partnership at a canter, with Mandhana overtaking Harmanpreet Kaur to become India’s leading six-hitter in women’s T20Is.
