Ozeki Mei earned the top score Wednesday (4 March) during the women’s open qualifier at the 2026 WST Skateboarding Street World Championships in São Paulo, Brazil.
The Japanese skater scored 50.58, just ahead of Republic of Korea’s Shin Jiyul’s 50.55. New Zealand’s Jessica Ready rounded out the top three with a 44.91 total.
The top 32 finishers from Wednesday’s open qualifier advance to Friday’s women’s street quarterfinal, where they’ll be joined by eight seeded skaters, including Paris 2024 Olympic champion Yoshizawa Coco of Japan.
The other seven seeded athletes are Oda Yumeka (Japan), Nakayama Funa (Japan), Chloe Covell (Australia), Matsumoto Ibuki (Japan), Nishiya Momiji (Japan), Akama Liz (Japan), and Rayssa Leal (Brazil).
Originally scheduled for 2025 in Washington, D.C., these championships are the World Skateboarding Tour’s first stop in 2026 and their resumption of competition following the World Cup Kitakyushu Street 2025 in November in Japan.
The men’s park open qualifier is set to wrap up later on Wednesday, with the men’s street and women’s park open qualifiers set to take centre stage on Thursday (5 March).
