Indian boxersĀ continued its impressive run at theĀ Asian Boxing Championships 2026Ā in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Tuesday with a total of four boxers ā two women and two men ā storming into the finals.
Reigning world championsĀ Minakshi HoodaĀ andĀ Jaismine LamboriaĀ led the charge in the womenās semi-finals on Tuesday, whileĀ Vishvanath SureshĀ andĀ Sachin SiwachĀ produced strong performances in the menās category.
In the womenās 48kg semi-finals, Minakshi registered a confident 4-1 victory over Thailandās Thipsatcha Yodwaree to seal her spot in the gold medal bout.
Jaismine, meanwhile, edged past Uzbekistanās Nigina Uktamova by a closely contested 3-2 decision in the womenās 57kg semis.
In the menās division, Vishvanath Suresh (50kg) delivered a dominant performance, outclassing Jordanās Huthaifa Eshish with a unanimous 5-0 win to advance to the final.
Sachin Siwach (60kg) also impressed with a solid 4-1 victory over Thailandās Sakda Ruamtham in his semis clash.
In other semi-final bouts, Indiaās Akash (menās 75kg) lost 4-1 to Uzbekistanās Javokhir Abdurakhimov while Lokesh (menās 85kg) went down 5-0 against Jasurbek Yuldoshev of Uzbekistan.
Narender Berwal (menās 90+kg) suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Peopleās Republic of Chinaās Bayikewuzi Danabieke, with the bout being stopped in the first round due to a cut to the Indian boxer.
Harsh Choudhary (90kg) also lost 4-1 to Tajikistanās Parviz Karimov.
On Monday,Ā Nikhat ZareenĀ (womenās 51kg), Olympic medallistĀ Lovlina BorgohainĀ (womenās 75kg) and Pooja Rani (womenās 80kg) had lost their respective semis bouts, settling for bronze medals.
Tuesdayās wins take the number of Indian finalists at the UlaanbatarĀ boxingĀ meet to eight ā six women and two men.
Three womenās boxers ā Preeti Pawar (54kg), Priya (60kg) and Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) ā had qualified for the final on Monday. Meanwhile, Alfiya Pathan (womenās +80kg) will start her campaign directly from the final.
Preeti Pawar will go up against Chinese Taipeiās Huang Hsiao-wen in the final, while Priya faces the Democratic Peopleās Republic of Koreaās Un Gyong Won for gold.
Arundhati Choudhary is set to meet Kazakhstanās Bakyt Seidish in her gold medal bout. Minakshi faces local favourite Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan while Jaismine will square off against Thailandās Punrawee Ruenros for the title.
The menās finals are yet to be decided.
According to the Boxing Federation of Indiaās selection process, boxers who reach the finals at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 secure direct qualification for theĀ Commonwealth GamesĀ andĀ Asian Games.
