Building on this opportunity, on 12-14 August 2026, UNESCO, in collaboration with key partners including TCRA, NATCOM, and the Ministry of Health, brought together peer educators managing social media platforms from 13 Higher and Tertiary Education Institutions (HTEIs) for a three-day practical training to strengthen how they engage fellow young people on health and well-being.
The sessions equipped the peer educators with practical skills to create accurate, engaging, culturally appropriate and youth-friendly content on Sexual Reproductive Health , HIV and GBV prevention, while communicating online responsibly. They also learned how to use social media analytics to understand their audiences and better capture and report the reach and engagement generated through their platforms.
With strengthened skills and fresh ideas, these peer educators return to their campuses ready to make every post count, using the digital spaces young people already trust and enjoy to spark conversations, share credible information and support informed choices. UNESCO’s O3 Plus Project focal persons from HTEIs also joined the training, helping ensure that this digital engagement continues with strong institutional support.
