England’s Alex Fitzpatrick clinched his maiden DP World Tour title after winning the Indian Open 2026 golf tournament at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, Haryana, on Sunday.
Alex Fitzpatrick carded a total of nine-under over four rounds to secure a two-stroke victory over Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra, who won the 2025 edition of the Indian Open golf.
The 27-year-old Englishman trailed Eugenio Chacarra by four strokes heading into the final day. Despite a double bogey in the 18th, he carded a three under for the final round.
Chacarra, on the other hand, carded a three over and lost the title by two strokes.
Alex Fitzpatrick is the younger brother of Matt Fitzpatrick, a former US Open major champion and a 10-time winner on the European Tour, which is also known as the DP World Tour.
Matt also won last week’s Valspar Championship on the PGA Tour to climb to a career-high ranking of world No. 6.
“I idolise him (Matt) so just trying to be like him in every way so yeah, hopefully we can keep doing well,” Alex said after his triumph. “I’m off to see them in a couple of days, I see my mum and dad tomorrow and we’re going to meet my brother in Florida. It’s been a good few weeks for the Fitzpatricks.”
South Africa’s MJ Daffue, Englishman Andy Sullivan and France’s Ugo Coussaud tied for third spot with scores of five-under.
Three-time Ryder Cup winner Francesco Molinari finished T6th with three under.
Among the Indian golfers in action, teenager Manoj S and Om Prakash Chouhan emerged as the top performers, securing a T43 finish with scores of 10 over.
Kshitij Kaul was the only other Indian to make the cut for the weekend rounds and finished 64th.
Veer Ahlawat, who was runners-up in the 2024 edition of the Indian Open, missed the cut for the weekend rounds and so did Paris 2024 Olympian Shubhankar Sharma.
Indian-origin American Akshay Bhatia, currently world No. 22 and a recent winner on the PGA Tour, also missed the cut.
